HISTORY
Established in Toronto with the Canadian Polish Congress in 1980 by a group of 3 physicians: Dr. Abramowicz, Dr. Dubiski and Dr. Krynski, as POLISH CANADIAN HEALTH PROFESSIONS ASSOCIATION.
The initial goal was to help Polish people in Poland and in Canada. The plans were to encompass all medical and paramedical professions and help with the licencing.
In the 1980's Dr. Abramowicz and his wife organised series of courses and lectures at the U of T covering most specialties as well as English language. They also tried to arrange internships through the Ministry of Health - it didn't work.
Initial meetings were held at SPK (Polish Combatants’ Hall), there were about 80 Polish professionals and it was considered a great success. Dr. Krynski was voted the President of the Association and he presided until 2002. The management included Dr. Rybczynska and Dr. Dobosz.
Since then the meetings were held regularly twice a year at the Polish Consulate.
Past Presidents: Dr. Krynski, Dr. Zawadowski, Dr. Nynkowski, Dr. Szwarc-Michorowski, Dr. Albin-Cook, Dr. Wojtasik
